Pablo Picasso (1881-1973)

Painter, sculptor, engraver, ceramist. For many, the dominant figure of 20th century art. Born in Barcelona, he moved to Paris when he was 20. He remained even in old age obstinately youthful and prodigiously productive. He made over 2,000 etchings and 150 linoleum cuts.
These three copper engravings are from the Vollard Suite.
The Vollard Suite contains 100 prints done in the 1930s and named after Ambroise Vollard, the foremost French art dealer and publisher. Many consider them among Picasso's finest work in etchings.
